Interior house painting

Take down window blinds, and remove switch-plates and outlets.
Move all furniture to the middle of the room and cover it with plastic.
Use tarps or plastic to cover floors as well.
Fix cracks with latex caulk or drywall compound.
Cover stains with stain blocking primer.
Apply
two coats of paint. Wait till the
paint is completely dry before applying the second coat of paint.
Types of paint used.
Paints have different sheens:flat,low-sheen,eggshell,semi-gloss
and gloss. Flat paint has little or no sheen and is used primarily for the ceilings. The remaining are considered enamels
and can range from a five to ninety five percent sheen rating-the higher the rating,the higher the shine. These are used for
trim,baseboards,walls in the kitchens and bathrooms. Many homeowners use enamels on all their walls because they are more
durable and easier to clean, but low-sheen is recommended because it is more attractive than shinier enamels. Most common
practice is to paint walls with low-sheen(satin) finish,and baseboards and trim with semi-gloss finish.

A lot of times colors on the color pallet will look completely different from an actual sample of paint you get from the store.
People usually ask if color will look lighter or darker after paint applied on the walls and had time to dry. Sometimes it will look lighter, sometimes darker and sometimes just different.
Light is the main reason for that. Same color will look different in the sun light and electrical light. Same color will look different during different times of the day.
Paint pigments and other objects do not have the color in themselves. It is the properties of the pigment determine which wavelength it reflects to the eye and which one it absorbs. And the colors that we see is merely a length of the wave that the light reflecting from the object.
That is why after getting a general idea, looking at color scheme, which colors you like it is very important to get actual samples of paint of each color that you thinking of using, put it on the wall and make sure it is the color you want.
